We are starting a new series of interactive blog posts highlighting the outstanding entrepreneurs in the Park City community. Follow our social media pages to get to know the people behind the most inspiring projects in the area.
Park City’s Rockstar
Our first post is solely dedicated to Marielle Pariseau. Marielle is originally from Île-Perrot, Quebec but she has been in Utah since 2012. She has been practicing dentistry for more than 37 years. Towards the end of her career, she decided to join the People’s Health Clinic as a pro-bono dentist for Summit County’s low income populations. That’s when she got her first “Aha” moment. Marielle experienced first hand the severity of the oral health problem in children living in Summit County. In some cases an elementary school aged child would need as many as 12 crowns as a result of tooth decay – a disease that is 100% preventable through daily flossing and brushing. Here’s an info graphic illustrating the severity of the problem:
The Entrepreneurial Project
TeethFirst was created by Marielle to make oral hygiene as accessible as hand hygiene. She manufactured over 100,000 “OhPal’s” (patented waterless toothbrushes) to facilitate the integration of supervised flossing and brushing programs in elementary schools. Additionally, Marielle has created an educational curriculum that teachers will use in the classroom to provide basic oral hygiene education.
Tapping Into Community Resources
PandoLabs, Park City’s community entrepreneurship and career advancement hub has helped Marielle advance through three important milestones:
- Marielle joined the Peer to Peer group, a program that provides a peer environment that supports and empowers fellow entrepreneurs through the exchange of ideas, experiences, and accountability to meet their missions, visions, strategic objectives, metrics and strategic initiatives.
- PandoLabs facilitated a partnership with Park City High School’s program, PCCAPS where students got involved in helping her design the packaging and the patented product from concept, to digitization, to 3D printing.
- The PandoLabs team used their consulting services to help Marielle write a $100,000 grant request to further expand her operations in Park City.

Current Efforts: Community Outreach
“Currently, we have 3 Kindergarten classrooms at McPolin flossing and brushing under supervision after lunch every day. They will do so until the end of the school year. The kids love it and after just a few days of doing this in the classroom, it has already changed their behavior at home.”- Marielle.
She is also working to expanding this program into hotels, banks, and restaurants to keep consistency and increase accessibility to oral care. She has already spoken with over six business in the community, some of which are excited to support the cause.
I don’t know about you, but we are extremely inspired my our community member’s passion for entrepreneurship, social good, and dental care. You can follow her project directly on TeethFirst’s website at www.teethfirst.org.
